Silver & Stone™ is a small family owned business that wants to provide people with good material to put into their designs or collections. This business was created with integrity and honest hard work and the Mason family strives on a daily basis to maintain these qualities in a market that is rife with dishonesty.

Bryan Mason has always loved rocks from the time he could pick them up and put them into his overall pockets. With marriage and family his love for rocks remained a hobby until the kids were old enough. Then his small hobby escalated from family rock hounding trips to a full out mining operation and a family run business, Silver & Stone™.

The Masons’ are located in Crescent Valley, Nevada. This area is chock full of interesting rock deposits and minerals to mine. Chance had it that turquoise would be the mineral that favored the Mason family. Now all four Masons work together to mine and market this turquoise to the public.

Bryan and his son Jeff work together operating the mining equipment while Bryan’s wife Jane and his daughter Michele spot turquoise in the pit and gather it in buckets. Michele’s husband Steven acts as mine manager keeping everything running smoothly and making sure there are not too many breaks. Occasionally even the family dogs are employed, though good at digging they tire easily and you can often find them napping in the shade.

After the turquoise is out of the mine the whole family works together to clean, grade and sort it for sale. This is the hardest part and can take days or sometimes even weeks. While sorting select pieces are set aside and drilled for pendants or cut into cabs but the majority of it is put in buckets to be sold as rough.

The fact that the Masons’ mine, clean, sort and sale the turquoise themselves ensures quality control. They know where the rock has come from as well as every single thing that has been done to it along the way. The Mason family believes very strongly in honestly representing and standing behind what they sell. Because of this belief you will find the turquoise you are getting to be accurately described and represented.
